National Public Lands Day This Saturday Sept 30. - Multiple Work Party Opportunities

Cypresswood Trails Work Party

We will be meeting at Collins park at 8:30 AM instead of
the intersection of TC Jester/Cypresswood. Collins Park is located
just west of TC Jester on Cypresswood Dr. The meeting location is behind the police station along the creek. There is a parking lot just east of the skateboard park. This spot will most likely serve as the new trail-head once the TC Jester project moves forward.

  1. I had the pleaseure to help cut trail at the Cypresswood area on Saturday. Thanks for organizing it and being somewhat prepared and occomodating to new members. thanks
I was thinking that it would be better to keep the leaves on the trail to prevent erosion. Instead of raking them off. Whats with the raking? and is that the approved method? Hugh Fry

  2. Thanks so much for helping Hugh. When a new trail is made, we have to define the trail tread. In our area, if we did not rake the leaves, the trail would not be seen. As we move into fall, the tread will become compacted, then a new covering of pine needles and leaves will appear and rot to make a more loamy soil – the trail tread will still be clear, but it will have a new surface. It just takes a little while to bed it in. So go ride it!
