Double Lake Trail Expansions Work Party-Sunday July 1

We’ve got trail expansions to finish folks. GHORBA will bring tools but if you have yours (shovels, clippers, sturdy rakes) bring them, marked with tape or something so they don’t get mixed up with GHORBA’s. Sturdy shoes, gloves, eye protection very much recommended to bring.

Directions to Double Lake Entrance

Meet at the new gatehouse parking area at 9 AM—after the turnoff but before the lodge. We’ll conclude around 1 PM and feed you Subway sandwiches. Drinks refills provided so bring your hydration pack. Oh yeah, if it’s not raining, the trails will most likely be good to ride so bring your bike as well.

Don’t forget the monthly REI/GHORBA Terry Hershey Park Cleanup & Ride Saturday June 30, 10 AM. REI will furnish trash bags, water and snacks. We recommend you bring gloves, sunblock and insect repellent. If the trails will be dry, we’ll take a ride afterwards! Directions to Dairy Ashford Parking Lot

  2. Absolutely. We’ll teach you what you need to know to work on the trails (at THP we’re just picking up trash). Also Double Lake is a great trail for newbs in terms of technical difficulty, but this, nor the Saturday ride at THP, will not be a beginner-oriented ride pace. We’ll have a skills clinic in July.

  3. Hi. I just joined GHORBA, have a mountain bike, but I don’t have a bike rack for my car! I was told that it would cost $500.00 for a roof rack since I have a hatchback (Acura RSX). Is there anyone out there who has a rack on their hatchback? I have no way of riding since I can’t transport my bike to the shop to have it serviced. I am so bummed out!!!

  4. Jenny, I just bought a rack that is also rated for use on a hatchback automobile. Look into a rear mounted trunk rack and you’ll be able to find one for under $150.

  6. Jenny, unfortunatley there are only 2 options for the RSX because of the lack of a rear bumper lip, one is free and one is expensve (the roof rack). Try flipping your seats down and taking the front wheel off you will be really suprised what fits i the hatch. .... I used to have an RSX ;) much fun to drive.
