GHORBA directors met Thursday, July 10th with Hector Garcia, a Houstonian with a vision for every inner-city child to have a working bike.  Hector sets up clinics at churches and at the Houston Boys and Girls Clubs and repairs kids bikes for them. Through donations, Hector has parts for bikes in bins that he and his associates bring to the area, as well as tools to do the repairs.  They setup an awning and a bike stand, music, and kids come out of the woodwork to have their bikes fixed.  Many times the bikes are un-repairable and he simply trades the child to a previously refurbished bike.  Through GHORBA's large member network, we are going to supply the Bike Project with any donated bikes and parts that are not being used for the Houston Sprockids project as well as advice and support.  This is truly a great project for GHORBA to back in order to give back to the community.  Hopefully some of our members will try to attend some of these events to support Hector.   Longtime GHORBA backer Cyclone Cycles has offered to help with used bikes and parts for this program also.  If you know of anyone with bikes in their garage that their kids have out-grown, pick them up and Contact Keith, Jamie, Chris Case or Mike Frye and they will pick them up.  To learn more about the Byke Project click here.
