Russell Adams VP Trails
|
Russell is a lifer with GHORBA. He goes
above
and beyond in pursuit of great trails in the area. He attended an
IMBA Trail Building School to learn the proper techniques of trail
building and shares his knowledge with all of us. A new job has
taken much of Russell's time lately but he still manages to attend all of
the rained out work parties at Memorial Park. That's Russell talking
to Chris Case and Aaryn from IMBA at the Bikesport open house.

Mike Lutomski Treasurer
|
Mike
has been a Rocket Scientist at NASA for the
past 17 years. Mike started
riding a $100 modified 10-speed with 26" wheels and a single speed
coaster break back in college riding to class in over ice, sleet, and
snow. Decades later he was introduced to the "official" sport
of mountain biking and downhill racing while living in Moscow Russia.
There he learned the "art" of biking year-round in rain, snow, and mud
(did I say mud?). He also learned how to curse in Russian when falling
down large crevices and hills surrounded by natural hazards. Upon
returning to America where there were more than 37 bikers and actual
bike trails, he learned about Cross Country Racing, how to ride trails
that were dry, what a closed trail was, and even trail maintenance from IMBA. Mike rides, races, and camps with his three children around
Texas. Mike wants to promote mountain biking activities in Houston,
ensure access to existing and new trails systems, & encourage
sustainable trail maintenance. Contact him at
lutomski@concentric.net.

Cynthia
hasn't sent in a bio so I'll do it for her. She is a wife, mother,
bookeeper, our secretary and a damn good racer. She won the beginner
class in the fall series before moving up to sport where she finished 3rd
overall. Cynthia has stepped up to assistant race director for the
Big Ring Challenge and also serves on the Board of Directors for TMBRA.
She also helps big time with the GHORBA Sprockids Program and can be found
at most events.

Keith Porter Fund
Raising/Race Director/Webguy
|
I got drafted, OK, I volunteered to be interim Events
Coordinator after the previous director resigned to spend more time
training and working. My first project was the Fat Tire Festival, a
labor of love. I had a blast working with everyone putting that
together. Well, they decided to keep me so I guess I did OK.
The next project was putting a new website together and you can see those
results. Now maybe I can get back to my job, Events. Easter
brings us a road trip to ride the Womble in Arkansas and then the Race in
the fall. You can reach me at
porterka@sbcglobal.net and don't forget to visit my website

Scott King
At Large
|
Scott
King has been mountain biking since 1990, racing occasionally, but mostly
riding for fun and to get outside. He moved to Houston 7 years ago after
stints in magazine publishing which got started by an internship with
Dirt Rag Magazine while a senior at the University of Pittsburgh.
Lately, riding has taken a back seat to trail building for him. He can
often be found working on the new trail system at Stephen F. Austin State
Park or trying to learn some skills for more technically demanding style
of riding. Scott can be reached at scott.king@gmail.com

I
am a native Houstonian and grew up in the Bellaire area. I now reside on
the west side of Houston in the Katy area. I have been involved with
biking in one fashion or another most of my life. I spent much of my youth
riding and racing BMX bikes and I am now an active member of a local
mountain bike racing team. The transition to mountain biking is not a hard
one from the BMX world. I have just recently, in the last two years or so,
renewed my passion for biking due to the need for exercise. I became a
member of GHORBA in April of 2003. Since joining GHORBA, I have been
involved with the Sprockids program as well as logging many hours of trail
work on the various venues in and around Houston. Feel free to contact me
with any ideas or questions you may have. I will be glad to assist you in
any way I can.
